Arabic Immersion

Waldorf Education Program for Schools & Homeschool Co-ops

Our Approach

Our Arabic Immersion Waldorf Education program provides students with a unique learning opportunity where they can learn more about the Arabic language, Arab culinary art, and Arab culture. All of our programs focus on giving back, fostering community, and nurturing social awareness and interest in Arab (specifically Moroccan) cultural heritage.

Our goal is to equip students with multilingual and cultural knowledge that will enable them to connect with the Arab/Moroccan society and contribute to intercultural understanding between the East and West.

This program is open to private schools, public schools, colleges and homeschool co-ops in or around Raleigh, NC. Please get in touch if you would like us to visit your city.

Keep reading for a typical overview of what you can expect your students to learn at each grade level:

Grades 1-3

Our young students will learn Arabic immersion through stories, songs, games, movements, and gestures.

For these young learners, we focus on teaching vocabulary and pronunciation of basic words that they are already familiar with such as family members, food, animals, things in a garden, numbers, colors, action verbs, and more.

Students will also be exposed to Arab cuisine by preparing traditional Moroccan dishes from scratch.

Grades 4-8

Students will develop the skill of oral expression and be introduced to writing. They will broaden their vocabulary and be able to introduce themselves and others. They will also learn how to write familiar content such as short stories, poems, and songs that they have already learned orally.

Through the Arabic immersion curriculum, students will harness their sense of feeling by making the flavorful Middle East and North African dishes. They will also broaden their horizons of thinking and appreciation of the Arab world by exploring the region’s cultures, mosaics of music, poetry, stories, contextual dialogues, biographies, and historical narratives.

Grades 9-12 & College

High school students with no prior knowledge about Arabic, will gain exposure to Moroccan Arabic by listening to a story, they will learn vocabulary and experiment with writing it in Arabic Khatt, Arabic calligraphy.

Students will move on to conducting research about the Moroccan culture and make tajine, a Moroccan main course meal. Arabic Immersion high school students will exchange dialogues mimicking everyday life settings.

Students will be involved in discussing current events from the Arab world, address a topic of their interest, and write a critical response about an artwork. Students may choose to explore a visit to a multilingual country like Morocco or a study abroad.
